Aquí se ve la casa de máquinas y tuberías de carga de la central Maitenes. Se inauguró hacia 1922 y aún genera energía para Santiago. Con el aluvión de 1987 la casa de máquinas se llenó de barro, per después se recuperó y se instalaron máquinas más modernas.

 Here we can see the power house and the pipes that bring water to maitenes power station. It first generated power in 1922 and is still going strong. In 1987 o huge mudslide that roared down from the high Colorado river, almost covered the power house with mud. But it was cleaned up and new machinery was installed, so this very reliable hydropower plant still has many years of futher use left.
